KPU Requires 35 Days to Complete Real Voting Count

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - General Election Commission (KPU) chairman Arief Budiman said his side required 35 days at maximum to count all votes in the 2019 general elections. The vote calculation is carried out in stages starting from the polling station (TPS) until the national level manually.
“KPU is granted 35 days at max,” Arief told reporters in his office, Central Jakarta, Thursday, April 18.
Arief explained the vote count might be completed faster than the designated time limit depending on the data entry.
Based on the Law on Election, the counting must be done manually grade by grade. This means it will be carried out in TPS, subdistrict, city/regency, province until the national stage by the election commission.
People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) chairman Zulkifli Hasan also called all parties waiting for the official vote count by the authorized institution. He made the statement in response to two victory claims in the 2019 presidential elections.
Quick count result of several pollsters showed Joko Widodo - Ma’ruf Amin is ahead of the presidential race with 54 percent of votes. On the other hand, Prabowo Subianto - Sandiaga Uno claimed to have earned 62 percent of votes based on the C1 Form data from the real count result in 320,000 polling stations.
